First State Orthopaedics Welcomes New Physician

First State Orthopaedics was happy to welcome Dr. Matthew Handling who joined them in practice on August 29, 2008. Dr. Handling is a native of the State of Delaware. He attended high school at The Tatnall School and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction from the University of Delaware.

Dr. Handling’s special interests include Sports Medicine, Arthroscopic Surgery (including hip arthroscopy), Fracture Care and Orthopaedic Trauma, Joint Cartilage Repair and Replacement and Treatment of Arthritis. . He is accepting new patients at the Newark, Middletown and Smyrna locations.

Dr. Handling finished medical school at Thomas Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, PA, followed by an orthopaedic residency at UMDNJ/Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York, New York. Dr. Handling completed a sports medicine fellowship at New England Baptist Hospital, Boston Mass., with World Champion Boston Celtics.
