First State Orthopaedics sports medicine specialists are dedicated to providing a knowledgeable and focused approach to the comprehensive treatment for sports-related injuries. Many of our physicians have received specialized training in the evaluation, treatment, and surgical intervention of orthopaedic injuries required by both athletes and nonathletes. This additional training also allows our physicians to have direct input into the critical rehabilitation process that goes hand in hand with the latest in sports medicine surgical techniques.

Our board-certified physicians provide first-class sports medicine for all ages and abilities, from the elite and collegiate athlete, to the high school athlete or weekend warrior. We serve as team physicians for over 20 high schools, Goldey-Beacon College, Wilmington University and many local recreational and competitive leagues. We serve as Consultants for the University of Delaware Division 1 athletic program. Our team approach to sports medicine is perhaps best exemplified by our physician assistants, who in addition to our physicians, can be seen on the sidelines of many area sporting events where they serve as the on-site medical professional to evaluate on-field injuries and return-to-play decisions.

We take pride in the quality of our sports medicine program in the growing number of high-level athletes that have been successfully treated by our team and have subsequently returned to active participation in the sports they love.

In addition, our knowledgeable sports medicine specialists share their experience and expertise with other sports medicine providers, helping them become the healers of tomorrow.
Our goal is to treat orthopaedic problems and athletic injuries using the latest technology and state-of-the-art equipment to guide patients through subsequent rehabilitation for complete recovery.
